
I love chess but the traditional aesthetic isn't to my taste. I’ve been looking for an excuse to make something that’s a bit more elegant and minimal.

So, I’ve started making this series of chess openings as art prints. They are printed on lovely fine art (slightly textured) 200gsm paper and are now available to buy on [Etsy](https://davemullenjnr.etsy.com).

<a class="link-body" href="https://geometryclub.org/">Geometry Club</a> is a series of architecture photographs that are identical in composition, giving us a unique perspective to contrast and compare the differences in form, design, and construction of each facade.

## Instagram

The project lives on <a class="link-body" href="https://instagram.com/geometryclub">Instagram</a> where I encourage people to submit their own photos to be featured. I've featured over 150 contributors' photographs, from more than 30 countries.

## iOS App

I built a <a class="link-body" href="https://geometryclub.org/app">Geometry Club camera app</a> with iOS developer <a class="link-body" href="https://www.alexedge.co.uk/">Alexander Edge</a>. The app helps you to line up your Geometry Club photos, in real time. It's free and available to download on the <a class="link-body" href="https://itunes.apple.com/app/geometry-club/id1185322655?ls=1&mt=8">App Store</a>.

## Sheffield Print

I created and sold a limited edition print of Sheffield architecture, featuring many of the city's iconic buildings including the Crucible Theatre, The Arts Tower, Cheese Grater, and Diamond Building. The print was available as a 70cm x 50cm print on Fuji Professional Velvet paper, with a limited run of 25 prints that sold out. Last month I travelled to Iceland with Ryan Sheppeck, Dan Cook, and Daniel Casson for a three day action-packed landscape photography trip. Luckily, it had just snowed as we arrived. Which suited me as I got to focus more on composition and experimenting with contrast.

The Design Museum invited me, on behalf of my architecture photography project [Geometry Club](https://instagram.com/geometryclub), to explore and photograph their new space before it opens to the public on 24th Nov 2016.

The highlight was the enormity of the hyperbolic paraboloid roof. It has been beautifully exposed so that it could enjoyed from the inside. Here’s a selection of my photographs from the #emptydesignmuseum event.

Back in September 2015, Maria and I travelled to Los Angeles and steadily made our way up the pacific coast eventually crossing the boarder into Canada, finishing up in Vancouver, BC.

Above is a short video I made of our trip as a memento for us and to share with our family and friends. And below is a selection of photographs I took along the way.

A short video I made from a recent trip to Amsterdam. The footage was shot on Canon 6D with 50mm f1.4 lens and an iPhone 6s. Music by Peaks.

I shot a bunch of video in New York on a recent visit with Maria (who’s in the film, a lot). I’ve had little experience with shooting and editing but wanted to give it a go, especially as i’d just bought a Canon 6D. I used my 50mm f1.8 lens throughout which gives it that shallow depth.

My idea was to make the video up of clips that lasted exactly 32 frames each (shot at 24 fps, each clip is 1.5 seconds long). I experimented with longer / shorter clips but 1.5 seconds seemed perfect. It gave the video a good pace without cutting between clips so fast that you can’t see what’s going on.

The song used is Daydream by Beach Fossils. There are a few reasons why this song works; it’s upbeat and energetic, the lyrics are relevent (to us) and the band are from Brooklyn which is where we spent most of our time.
